Another great tip Kenny recommends for sealing not only wood countertops but also paper based materials like Paperstone and Richlite is a soapstone & wood sealer product from RealMilkPaint.com. It’s made with food-grade walnut oil & carnuba wax flakes, & has no solvents (no VOC’s!).

One thing I’ve been trying to find with not much luck so far, is more information about the history of countertops.

Natural earth hues, subtle shades and occasional splashes of vivid color make up the palate predicted to be the favorite selection of paint for 2012. Wood grain finishes will be darker than they’ve been, while colors on vinyl window cladding and spot features may be bold and risky.

These predictions for the home colors and finishes trends for 2012 come from door and window manufacturer JELD-WEN. The company foresees this year having a mix-and-match aesthetic, with bold trim and exposed wood receiving accent color. The company’s exterior doors will come in knotty red cedar, Neapolitan bamboo and white wash, exuding color and style.
