Magnus Gjoens prints examine how to change peoples relationship and preconceived notions of objects. Something which is potentially extremely destructive can be made into beautiful yet fragile objects of art. It is this misconception of beauty which Magnus Gjoen wants us to see in a different light, being it weapons, animals or the human race itself. The latter which is capable of creating immense beauty but also capable of destroying it all. Taking inspiration from street and pop art and juxtapositioning it with fine art, he creates new and modern takes on old masterpieces or manipulates something powerful and strong into something fragile but beautiful.

One of my favorite newbie blogs is Built by Kids, authored by husband-and-wife team Timothy and Laura Dahl. Its filled with building projects by kids, with kids and for kids, and its a great spot to get tips on how to safely teach your kids to use hand and power tools at a young age.
I love this Halloween project Timothy and Laura posted: How to make witch and grim reaper silhouettes. Theyre perfect for spooking your trick-or-treaters on the front lawn!

My favorite perennial flower is this particular variegated daylily. I have no idea what the name is as I received it from a friend many years ago. It has wonderfully variegated leaves and this delightful orange flower.
I grow it in the front of my garden where I can see the leaves. I did let it grow one year in the middle of the garden as it has very tall flower stems but I missed seeing the foliage so it now resides front and center.
The variegated foliage isn’t stable and every year it throws a few totally green leaves. I dig these up and divide them off (a quick downward thrust with a shovel cuts them off nicely) every spring so the only foliage left is variegated.
The offsets do flower with the same bloom but without variegation. Full Post…
